New ELF Makeup

Here's some make-up  I bought from ELF recently.  L-R; Liquid Lips Lipstick in Pink Lemonade, Eyelid Primer in Sheer, Beauty Book Neutral Eye Edition, Blushing/Bronzing/Blending Face Brush, Blending Eye Brush.

Underneath; Clarifying Pressed Powder in Ivory, Tone Correcting Concealer in Ivory.

A lot of these are products I've already tried out and liked but I've bought a couple of new things to try such as the concealer and the blusher/bronzing brush.  I've also re-bought the liquid lipstick in a different colour, Pink Lemonade. I like this lip colour because it's got a lot of pigment like a lipstick but is still light, and doesn't have the sticky feel of a lipgloss.  This colour is a little darker than I expected but is still a nice, bright pink.

I've tried out the concealer a few times this week and so far I like it.  The colour actually suits my skin quite well, and it has a lot more coverage than I'd expected.  This works quite well as an under-eye concealer and for evening out the skin tone, as the name suggests.  This is not really suitable for blemishes although if you applied several layers of concealer on the area it could work, but you should really use a concealer with a thicker formula for that.

The Bronzing brush is really impressive.  I've been using it this week for contouring around my cheeks and I've found it to be really effective.  The angle of the brush is perfect for contouring the 'hollow' part of the cheek.  I use it with the thickest part of the brush pointing towards my ear and the thinner part pointing towards my nose/mount and I find that this angle applies the bronzer more evenly.  This brush is also great for blending out the bronzer afterwards.  It can be used for any face powders, but especially bronzer, blusher and skin finishes.

..

I moved into the apartment I'm staying in for college today, it's three hours away from where I live.  Here's some of the stuff I got for it:

I got this duvet set but for a single bed.  It's less pink/purple in real life, the background colour is grey.

Breakfast at Tiffany's movie poster for my wall.

Smaller poster for my wall - I have a postcard of this on my wall in my room at home and liked it a lot so I got a bigger version for when I'm at college.

I got a set of these owl mugs too, they look way better in real life, the colours in the photo are a lot brighter.

I also got loads of art stuff and other things, but I think I'll go shopping tomorrow for some clothes and things for my room, and I need to explore a bit, I've only been to this city about three times before and never really walked around it much so I have zero idea where everything is here.

Got my ELF order today so I might do a post on that soon too, and I finally caved and bought the Lita style boots from Boohoo.com, but they're being sent to my house and not here so I have to wait until next weekend to get them when I go home.  I can't wait that long! :)

So today I was offered my place in art college, so happy :)  I'm starting in a few weeks.

Then I'm going to Reading festival on Wednesday.  Foo Fighters are playing on Sunday, I can't wait for that.  There's so many bands I want to see, the line-up is really good this year.

/Updated

FF were amazing, and I had some really good photos but I lost my memory card a bit after I came home on a night out  (genius I know) so now I have no pictures except one of the stage at Paramore (they sucked.)

Got some Foo dollars though :)

I haven't posted on this for a while because I've been really busy with other things this week.  It was my birthday on Thursday, I had a party for it on Friday and I've had other stuff going on too so I didn't have any time for blogging.  Tomorrow I'm going shopping for shorts and stuff for a festival next week (yay :D)  so I'll do a post on that soon.

Review: Barbara Daly Nail Polish in Starlight

Barbara Daly Nail Polish in Starlight - in natural light

With Flash

This is a gold metallic polish with a lot of subtle glitter.  It's a cool shade of gold, with tiny specks of iridescent glitter.  It's smooth unlike a lot of glitter polishes and is fully opaque after 2-3 coats.

This would be better suited to someone with a darker skin tone, I might use it for doing nail art.  This polish would be great as an accent nail to a nude colour like Grey Suede from Revlon.

Topshop Mint Crop Top

I got this in the post yesterday. I love the polka dot bag!

I bought a denim look bralet from Topshop's website last week, along with some other stuff.  This is the first thing I've bought from Topshop as the nearest one to me is an hour away.

The colour is acid washed mint, which I like a  lot.  It's a little big shorter than I expected but when you try it on I think it looks better that way.  I'll probably wear this with a high waisted skirt and maybe get some high waisted shorts too.

I really love this top.  It's not this bright though, it's more of a mint colour and you can see the acid wash effect better in real life  This picture isn't great, I'll put up a proper one soon.  Overall I love this top.

This is the photo from the Topshop website.

Trend: Coated Shorts

I love these shorts, they'd look so cool with beige Lita boots.  I like the zip detailing and the coated fabric, it looks a bit like leather without being shiny.

Black Dakota Coated Hotpants, €29.99 New Look.

New Clutch Bags

I got this black and gold straw clutch in Awear

I got this clutch in Pennys/Primark, it's a diamond shaped box clutch bag.  I like the croc effect, it's more of a taupe colour in real life, the wall makes it look a lot more purple.

Review and Swatches: Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss

This is a Colorburst Lipgloss from Revlon, in the shade 042 Bellini.  The colour in real life is actually more of an orangey pink.  This is a different take on a nude colour, and it has a very subtle shimmer.  The packaging is nice too which is a plus.

The wand has an unusual shaped applicator, it curves inwards on two sides.  I found that it makes the lipgloss easier to apply.

I don't usually wear lipgloss because I find that the formula is often sticky and wears off quickly.  As for the Revlon Colourburst lipgloss, this doesn't feel sticky at all but it doesn't have much staying power either.  I don't really think this is a problem for me as it's easy to  re-apply.  The colour is nice on, it looks more of  a peach colour on me.  It's bright and different to the usual pinks and raspberry colours I normally wear.  I

Swatch: Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Bellini

Here's a quick swatch of it.  The colour is a bit brighter and has a slight coral/peach tint to it.

Overall I really like this lipgloss.  It's bright, the formula is light and non-sticky and the price is okay too, at around €11.00.

I bought this product myself and all photos are my own.

I'm back!

I'm finished all my exams, and finally finished school.

I haven't posted anything in a while but now I'll be spending a lot more time on my blog, and hopefully improving it :)

Monday, June 4, 2012

It's 8:46 am and I'm taking a break from studying to post this..I've been up since half six and I actually have done some work lol.  I'm completely freaking out because my English exams start on Wednesday and they're horrible :(  Then there's a load more exams after, English is the scariest though.. I don't really know any of my quotes or anything, just can't learn them off :\

I know this had nothing really to do with my blog but I thought I should explain why I haven't updated it in ages.  I've officially finished school since last week but miss everyone already haha.  In three weeks time I'll have finished all the exams, I seriously cannot wait!  This blog will be way better because I'll have way more time.  See you in three weeks :D

Saturday, May 19, 2012

I haven't updated this is ages because I've been really busy studying :(  but I will be posting more in future :)

Je n'écris pas beaucoup récemment parce que je dois etudier tous le temps pour mes examens. Mais je vais ecrire beaucoup dans l'avenir :)

Got my dress!

So after a bunch of emails and calling different shops I finally tracked down the dress I wanted in my size.  There was one left because someone brought it back.  I'm so happy :D

This is the photo from the Coast website but the dress looks a lot different in real life.  It's a jade green colour, in this picture it looks like teal.  I love the jade green, it's also floor length on me.  I'm so happy I finally got it!

Glitter Nails

^ Wearing W7 Nail Polish in 'Cosmic Purple'.  It has purple and pink glitter mixed in with blue glitter.  I love it, it's so sparkly in real life and it is opaque after two coats.

Aztec Skirt

I love this skirt!  I saw it on fashiolista the other day.  It's from Missguided.co.uk.  I love the print and the colours.  I saw one a bit like this in New Look a while ago, only it had more orange/pink tones.  I really want one of these!

Photo from: www.missguided.co.uk

:(

I had found the perfect dress which I need for something in summer.  It was a gorgeous dress from Coast, only the shop didn't have any of my size in stock, and the only ones there were way too big.
So I checked online, signed up to the e-mail alert thing.  Then I decided to email Coast just to check if they were getting any in.

They're not stocking them anymore... :(

What do I do now?! This dress was so perfect.  I'm currently trying to track one down -anywhere at this stage- but nothing so far.  Seriously, I need to buy this dress..

My photos aren't uploading right now so here's a link,it's more of a jade green in real life, not teal:  http://www.coast-stores.com/molina%20maxi/proms/Coast/fcp-product/2213148548

Review: Catrice

Ever since Catrice re-vamped their product line I've been wanting to try some of their stuff out.  I've heard lots of good things about their new lines and so I bought a few Catrice products today.

I got the Limited Edition: Hidden World Eye Soufflé in 02- Yes, I Wood!, the Absolute Eye Colour eyeshadow in 420 Talk Like An Egyptian, and their Ultimate Nail Lacquer in 440 I Wear My Sunglasses At Night.

L-R: Eye Soufflé, Absolute Eye Colour, Ultimate Nail Lacquer

First up is the Limited Edition 'Hidden World' Eye Soufflé in 02 'Yes, I Wood!'

It comes in a round glass pot with a chrome effect lid.  I really like the packaging, it's good quality.  You get 4.9g of product which is good and it only costs €3.99.

'Yes, I Wood!' is a neutral colour, somewhere between a pink and light brown colour, with a nice slight shimmer.
The consistency is like a mousse, it's got a nice light feel to it but still gives even coverage.  This is great for brightening up the inside of a smokey eye, or on it's own for a neutral look.

I put some on over my own eyeshadow, it's on the right side of the eye, and the brown is a Benefit shadow.  I did this really quickly though.  The colour doesn't show up very well in the photo it's a little brighter in real life.  You can see the shimmer in the eye soufflé in the photo.

(Update: I noticed the day after wearing this product that it had irritated the skin on my eyes.  The chemicals in the formula are too strong for my skin and caused a bad reaction.  I only had a reaction like this once before, with an eyeliner marker.  I did a patch test on the inside of my arm, but as the skin on the arm is not as delicate as on the eye there was no reaction.  This reaction may not happen to everyone but I thought I should mention it here as I won't be using this product anymore, even though I really liked it)

Next is the Catrice Absolute Eye Colour, single shadow in 420 'Talk Light an Egyptian'

This is a gold, glittery shadow.  It looks a little yellow in the photo, it is a bit lighter in real life and it's very glittery.  I've been looking for a gold eyeshadow for ages and this is perfect.

It comes in a clear plastic case, which is quite heavy and looks much better in real life.  I really like the packaging, I didn't think I would but it's a lot stronger than it seems in pictures. This cost around €3.40, I can't remember the exact price.

This is the first Catrice shadow I've tried and I really like it so far.  It's very pigmented for a glitter shadow, and the glitter is really bright.

These photos aren't great but I thought I'd put them up anyway.  The colour hasn't shown up (again!) but you can still kind of see the glitter and shine.  I would wear this shadow with a brown smokey eye.

Lastly, I also got the Catrice Nail Lacquer in 440 'I Wear My Sunglasses At Night'.  This is a black polish with purple/light green glitter.  The glitter is very small so in the bottle it looks like a dark purple colour, which I like.  It cost around €2.70.

This nail polish has really good coverage, dries quite fast and is a nice colour.  The glitter takes away the harshness of the black, but it's still quite subtle.  The glitter is small so it won't be too difficult to take off unlike other polishes.

I'll post pictures later because I couldn't take any today.

Overall I really liked these Catrice products.  All of the products are quite cheap.  These three items cost €10.07 in total. I want to try out more of the polishes and some lip products next.
